1. Can you remember the first Gala Day you attended? (Date etc.) Did you receive anything e.g. cakes, milk, etc?
1957. Received box with pie, biscuits, cake. Also bottle milk and silver sixpence.
2. Where did you assemble, and are there any teachers you can remember who 'marched' with you?
Teachers, Miss Crawford, Mr Auld, and Mr Baxter.
3. Can you remember who the Queen was, and who crowned her?

4. Are there any funny stories you can remember that happened at the Gala? (sound problems/crowning problems etc.)

5. What was the best Gala you ever attended and why?
1961 Winning 5-a-side football and one or two races at sports. I remember mums and dads taking part in the events.
6. When you attend a Gala, do you stay just for the Ceremony, or the whole afternoon or a specific time?
About 1 hour after ceremony.
7. What do you think about the present Gala Days (set up, fund-raising etc)?
Very poor.
8. If "not much" -how would you improve matters? What should the Gala Committee introduce that would be beneficial to the Gala -and would you be prepared to help with these improvements?
Give gala back to the kids. Gala is meant to be a children's gala. Let kids take part in events. Reintroduce sports on day of gala.
