1. Can you remember the first Gala Day you attended? (Date etc.) Did you receive anything e.g. cakes, milk, etc?
Box, pie, cake, sweets, milk, sixpenny piece.
2. Where did you assemble, and are there any teachers you can remember who 'marched' with you?
Square Park. Teachers, Miss Moore. Miss Rae, Older boys carrying flags.
3. Can you remember who the Queen was, and who crowned her?
Helen (Ellen?) Russell & Alan Laing. (1963)
4. Are there any funny stories you can remember that happened at the Gala? (sound problems/crowning problems etc.)

5. What was the best Gala you ever attended and why?
When my daughter was Maid of Honour in 1980.
6. When you attend a Gala, do you stay just for the Ceremony, or the whole afternoon or a specific time?
Not for long, walk around; chat with friends and children.
7. What do you think about the present Gala Days (set up, fund-raising etc)?
Not enough to make parents and youngsters stay in the Park.
8. If "not much" -how would you improve matters? What should the Gala Committee introduce that would be beneficial to the Gala -and would you be prepared to help with these improvements?
Side shows and swings for the very young. "Its a Knockout" type of games involving various age groups.
