1. Can you remember your first GaIa Day?
I can remember approaching it with a mixture of fear and pleasure .
2. What, for you, was the 'Best' GaIa you ever helped to organise and why?
I hope the best is yet to come and they are all special in one way or another.
3. Have you any funny stories to tell about your time on the 'Gala Committee' i.e. fundraising etc?
There are numerous stories. During door-to-door collections, big dogs chasing you down the paths of houses and men with no money (till the wife comes in!).
4. Have there been any times when you have wanted to relinquish your position on the GaIa Committee?
Yes, but you think again, get the problems into perspective and get on with it !
5 .Who, would you say, has done more to keep the Galas going and why?
We all need each other on the Committee and without the help of Newtongrange (and other) folk we can do nothing.
6. What makes a good Committee Member?
A sense of commitment and a love of their village.
7. When did you join the Gala Day Committee?
18 or 19 years ago. (1974/75)
