GaIa Titbits: The 1991 Newtongrange Gala Challenge took the form of a sponsored assault course at Redford Barracks when a number of committee members and friends pushed themselves to the limit to raise funds for the Gala and the Royal Hospital for Sick Children, Edinburgh. The intrepid team were coached, encouraged and pushed on by members of the Royal Corps of Transport (V).
Evening News Festival Cavalcade - Newtongrange Gala's Viking Longboat was judged best float in the Community Section . A number of Newtongrange boys and girls were on board along with committee members. Rolf Harris judged the event.
