Saturday was a red letter day for Emma Quinto. For Miss.Quinto, who was the first queen of Newtongrange Children's Children's Gala, 47 years ago, was one of the guests at the gala day on Saturday. Gala Chairman, John McGuff said "When we heard that Miss Quinto was on holiday in Scotland, we felt it only right and proper that she should be invited to the Gala"
Saturday's Gala was probably the most successful ever held in the village, Brilliant sunshine greeted the Gala Court when they arrived at the Square Park for their Parade through the village and the crowning ceremony in the public park.

The Court went on a motorcade through the village before the ceremony and
on Sunday attended Newtongrange Parish Church.
