This year's crowning was performed on a raised dais where the Royal entourage presented a picturesque spectacle with the girls in their colourful dresses and the boys in long grey trousers, white shirts and blue sashes.
Councillor John McGuff, Chairman of the Gala Committee presided at the crowning ceremony. The weather through the afternoon was brilliant.
The crowning of the King and Queen was performed by Graham Burnside and Eliza Paxton, last year's King and Queen.
Councillor McGuff thanked all who contributed to the huge success
of the annual gala especially the local community. This was the 55th year
of the Gala Day and the continuance of a Gala which costs approximately £500
annually needs continued support from all asunder.
