The Gala Week which has provided dances, bowling and schools 5-a- side tournaments ended on Saturday with the crowning of the Gala King and Queen. This year the Royal couple are Lawrence W. Grant, and Joyce M. Stobbart.
Their court comprised of John R. Ford, Jemima A. L. Knight, Cecil J. Ferguson and Gordon Jenks. Sandra Chisholm, Irene Holland, Ian D. Scott, Robert Clerk, Keith A. Whyte, Andrew Walkingshaw, William W. Skinner. Margaret T. Bowman, Shiela House, Barbara A. Moffat Morag McAdam, Mary McGrath, James Pryde, Robert McKenna, Christina Beattie, Margaret Tracey, Edna Davidson, Susan Moffat, John Ferguson, William Hadden, Thomas Klan. Daniel Drummond, Denis Mlitchell, Brenda Wilson, June Darling, Katherine Knight, Jean Wood, Margaret Pearson, Eliza Paxton, Marion Campbell and Dorothy Anderson.
The crowning was performed by Mrs. E. Wright, Secretary of the Gala Committee.
Mr John Slater, Chairman of the Gala Committee warmly thanked all who had contributed to the success of their annual function. Watches were also presented to the King and Queen and gifts to other members of the Court.
Judo and Highland dancing displays were given by local organisations.
Lothian Silver Band, Conductor W Ross, and the Pipe Band under Pipe Major
Alex McIntosh played selections during the afternoon. A full sports programme
was also enjoyed.
